Currently Georgian film theaters, television stations, video retailers & rentals either acquire licenses through third country, or not acquire the license at all. GFM Studio aims to create a distribution network in Georgia, enabling direct acquisition of licenses of international titles. This method will create (currently non-existing) competitive film market within Georgia, based on country's requirements, enable protection of intellectual property rights, help creation of research, ad campaigns, as well as critics directly based on Georgian market. Since Georgia's official language is Georgian, the imported material will not directly compete with other countries, enabling country's free-to-air television stations air the material acquired dubbed in Georgian language without concerns about conflicting broadcasting rights with other European free-to-air networks. Direct distribution will also enable European branches of major distribution companies replicate Blu-Ray discs with Georgian subtitle support. The recent August 2008 events in Georgia have increased the necessity of direct distribution and GFM Studio is actively engaged in creating the infrastructure required for it.
