The Schism in 1054 A.D. split already diminished Christian world into two parts (which after the Church Council in 451 A.D. had already lacked the so-called "five ancient Churches of the East — of Ethiopia, of Copts, of Armenia, of Syrian-Jacobite with its residence center in Damascus, and of Syrian-Coptic with its residence center in Malambo) — the Greek Orthodox Church and Catholic Church. Later, several Protestant Churches isolated themselves from Catholic Church: Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Calvinist, Baptist, and others. Despite numerous collaboration attempts during centuries , the real perception of this became clear for the mankind only at the end of the 20th century, at the end of the second millennium. Many people were happy to see the Lift of Anathema as well as resuming the relationships between the Holy Sea of Rome and World Patriarchate of Constantinople. The discussions began about ‘love’, as well as theological dialogues between Orthodox, Islamists and Judaists. Between Holy Sea of Rome and Protestant Churches. Buddhists and Hinduists also joined the pan-ecumenical dialogue. That They May Be One is a feature documentary exploring the history and people behind The Schism, as well as its consequences we have been seeing till today. Join us as we travel around the world and in time, between religions and cultures of today and past, between Jerusalem, the old Constantinople, Cairo and Rome. |
